What a day!
We’ve been here for 3 days and it keeps getting better. God is doing some great work through the church here and through the halfway ministry they run. It is great to be a part of helping this ministry out.
This morning, all the youth went to sports day at the local High School by invitation from the students. They spent most of the morning watching football and volleyball, while talking with the Czech youth. As we were leaving, we gave some them some flyers to give to their friends about the church service. They said they would, and boy did they- but more on that in a moment.
After leaving the High School in Sokolov, we headed to Liboc to meet up with the rest of the team. We spent the rest of the day working around the foundation of the new halfway house, shoveling rock and dirt. We were joined by several people from the church who are giving of their vacation time (like much of our team) to work on the house.
Once the work on the house was completed for the day, we got cleaned up, had another massive dinner, and headed for the Church in Sokolov. Once at the church, the youth band performed for the people we had invited to the church for conversations in English; this time, about twice as many people showed up as the night before. The teenagers we had hung out with in the morning brought their friends.
After a few songs, 3 people gave their testimonies; Melissa, Curtis, and Debbie. They did a great job! The testimonies had a great effect, because people have been asking the questions about faith in Jesus Christ. Many questions were answered and the gospel was presented to people who had never heard it before. I am confident that this will have an eternal impact for the Kingdom.
Of course, the trip had been a great benefit to the missionaries as well. Almost everyone has given their testimonies and answered hard, but essential questions about God and faith. And through that process they have grown! Our team members are keeping journals of their experiences here and how God is working in their lives. God’s work will be done and His Will will not be overcome!
